Pulse Picks is delivered to your inbox daily with a link to a printable PDF listing of the day’s events and happenings, highlighting events of particular note. Just submit your email address above and you will start receiving our daily email about all that is Door County.

Guests of Door County rely on front desk staff, waitresses, and checkout persons to find out what to do and what's happening during their stay on the peninsula. What's going on tonight? Is there any live music? What should I check out while I'm here? And many more such questions are posed by guests dozens of times every day, and there are three replies they might receive.

"Nothing" or "I don't know of any live music or anything."

"I'm not really sure, you could check the paper, or give me a second and I'll check."

An affirmative, enthusiastic - "Yeah, there's a great show at Camp David tonight, and there's an open mic at the Bayside. Or if you're thinking of something more mellow, there's the piano lounge at Ashwell's, or Jazz at the Mission. Plus, there's always Birch Creek, which is a really unique venue. Unless you're thinking of a performance. In that case you could check out AFT, which is hilarious and has great music, or Pen Players. Or even Third Avenue Playhouse, I think they have shows this week too."

Each of these replies will leave the visitor with a particular feeling about your business or level of service, but more importantly, about the county as a whole. Door County needs visitors to return again and again, and if they visit and experience a one-dimensional, passive destination, it will result in fewer return visits and poor word-of-mouth. If they visit and fill their days enjoying our incredible scenery, but their nights taking in our unique and varied culture, they will be much more likely to tell a friend, particularly a young couple or family.

Too often, the reply to such inquiries is option A, and if not A, it's B. But imagine if the percentage of people answering similar to option C were to increase dramatically, wouldn't Door County sound like a much more vibrant, active, and exciting scene? Wouldn't your customer be more likely to leave with a smile and great impression of your hotel, gift store, or restaurant?

Pulse Picks is an effort to help facilitate a new level of service. At the Peninsula Pulse, we already make a dedicated effort to gather information about events and happenings throughout the county for free publication in our events calendar. This includes live music, gallery receptions, performances, sports, hikes, lectures, learning opportunities and more. Now, we're embarking on a new way to distribute this information more effectively, on a daily basis, right to your desk.

Each night, we'll send an email blast with an attached PDF of all the days' events and happenings, highlighting events of particular note and interest. All you have to do is print it out in the morning, encourage your employees to glance it over, and display it in the clear acrylic stand we'll provide for your guests and customers to reference.

It's Pulse Picks - a new and effective way to improve the Door County visitor experience.
