Gibraltar Gets SolarWise
By Myles Dannhausen Jr.

Wisconsin Public Service dedicated a bank of solar panels in a ceremony at Gibraltar Schools this morning. The 62 Kw system, installed in August and funded through a grant form WPS, will save the school about $300 a year in energy costs, but also stop the use of 3,600 pounds of coal annually.

Gibraltar senior Sam Kahr called the panels "a step toward a brighter, more environmentally-friendly future." WPS also donated money to the school's ecology club, and provided educational tools to the science department to teach students about renewable energy.
A renewable energy fair was conducted in the school gymnasium after the dedication.
